Saturday, May 26, 1:00-4:00pm - The Main Library, 2951 S 21st Drive, will host "Sew & Go for Moms and Kids" a program for mothers, grandmothers, or any adult who has an interest in teaching a child to sew. This month, Sew & Go-ers will create a Father's Day apron. Children need to be able to sew a straight line using a sewing machine. There is no charge to attend; however, space is limited. Please contact Mimi Duncan at (928) 314-2452 or mduncan@yumalibrary.org to register and receive a list of needed supplies. If possible, bring your own portable sewing machine. Written directions and hands-on assistance will be provided. Saturday, May 26, 3:30-4:30pm - Qigong Classes will be offered at Heritage Library, 350 S. Third Avenue. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and may bring bottled water and exercise mats. There is no charge to attend. Qigong is an ancient discipline practiced by millions worldwide and means energy work or effort. Qigong is easy to learn at any age and enjoyable to do. (PG-13) Based on the book by Alexandre Dumas. Wednesday, May 30, 5:30-6:30pm - Instructor Valerie Peņa will offer "Latin Dance Moves" for adults. The class will cover dance moves from a variety of Latin dances, including Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton, and more. There is no charge to attend. The Heritage Library is located at 350 S Third Avenue. Participants will have the opportunity to develop and enhance their poetic writing ability, and share their works at a live poetry reading at the end of the four week series. The Classroom Session teaches drivers how to properly setup their car to match the track conditions. The Track Session incorporates hands-on exercises at the Cocopah Speedway. Drivers will be instructed on their own cars. Attendees receive a t-shirt, certificate of completion, a 110-page technical manual, and lunch. Class is limited to 12-15 drivers and 30 crew members.
